忘れて閉めてしまいました。
Osamu locked himself out of his hotel room. He reminded himself to get the key before he left the room but he made a mistake and forgot it. He went to the front desk and tried to explain what happened by using sign language. He remembered that when he rented a car, he got into the same situation and tried to use the pay phone. He got sweaty and nervous until someone from the rental car agency helped him.
ホテルの部屋に鍵を置き忘れたままドアをロックしてしまいました。出かける前には、特に注意しているつもりでしたが、やはりポカ・ミスを演じることになりました。フロントへ行って、身振り手振りで何とか意思を伝える事ができました。以前、レンタカーを借りて同じ様な失態を演じた際には、公衆電話を探し回り、汗ばむ手で受話器を握りしめ、事態を説明するなど、助けが来るまでは心細さと不安感でジリジリしたことを思い出します。
ホテルの場合にはまだしも、レンタカーなどで遠出した際に、このような事態に出会うとあわてます。遠出の前に、ホテルや旅行代理店などの電話番号を確認して、電話のための小銭を準備しておくと安心です。また、日本と違ってハワイでは、公衆電話の市内通話には時間制限がないことも知っておくと便利でしょう。
