記念バッジをください。
Can I buy a First Night button here? How much is that button? Is that button for sale? What is First Night? You can say: pin, badge, or button They are all similar in meaning but people have different images about each one. A pin is usually pretty or cute- worn by women. It’s small and can be made of plastic, metal, ceramic, anything. Used for decoration. Badge- It is an emblem, or sign worn to show rank, mamebership, achievement etc.. We use the word especially with policemen. They all wear a badge. A badge is big and something you can read. Nathan wears a security badge to work. A badge can be pinned or clipped and is made of material or paper in plastic. A button can be something small and shaped like a button.

ホノルルでは以前、１２月３１日の大晦日から元旦にかけて、ファーストナイトの催しが、そこここで行われていました。いろいろなイベントを見て回るのも楽しいことでしたが、毎年、売られている記念バッジを集めるのも楽しみの一つでした。ところが、この記念バッジを買う際、Can I have a First Night badge? と言ったところ、うまく伝わりませんでした。

a First Night badge とおっしゃっても分からないでもないですが、少し変な感じがします。普通には、a First Night button と言います。a badge は、警察官が胸につけている記章などに対して使います。また、女性の方が身につける可愛い飾り物は、a brooch あるいは、 a pin と言います。ところで、「彼はバッジをつけている」という文章を英語で表現すれば、He is wearing the button. となります。「身につけるもの」によって、「着る、履く、掛ける、締める」などと表現を異にする日本語の語感からすれば間違え易いと思います。
